So the calendar Gods worked their magic and both Ghostbusters (the 80’s version) and Gremlins are back, tho Garfield still sits on the shelves collecting dust, that’s so rude. I also can’t find the Great Pumpkin at this time. I’m gonna guess that it will air on the 22nd or the 29th but that’s just a guess. As you know I’ll update you when that one comes out.
A few more items that you might want to take note of are below:
- The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXX airs on FOX on Oct. 20th. It’s Must See TV. This is the 30th edition of this Halloween special and I understand will feature a demon Maggie, a spoof on Stranger Things, a rescue mission for Milhouse, Homer’s spirit in random bodies, Selma finding love and those wacky aliens a staple in this holiday classic. For some reason FreeForm has decided at random intervals during their programing to show a Treehouse of Horror marathon, don’t question it just enjoy.
- Speaking of FreeForm they are enjoying 31 nights of Hocus Pocus, I mean Halloween. They are definitely throwing in some other specials for variety and flavor but it’s basically a Hocus Pocus love fest. Seriously I mean Hocus Pocus is great but the amount of love this channel gives it is insane. They are also showing Ghostbusters I and II, and the Scream franchise. The Addams Family is still there so I won’t harp on their line up too much….oh guys did you see the trailer fo the new Addams Family movie. IT’S A FREAKING CARTOON! Not some live action BS … but actual animation. I’m so excited I could plotz!
- AMC Fear Fest starts Sunday Oct 13th and their line up hasn’t been announced yet but I understand will include 80 films including Halloween (the original), Friday the 13th, Leprechaun, Alien, etc., Why they can’t give me their stupid schedule I’ll never know but they can suck it. I understand Fear Fest will also be available on their on-demand platforms which is a pattern that I’m not happy with, you know as someone who doesn’t partake in that kind of thing.
- Food Network and it’s special little cousin Cooking Channel have also gotten into the act with cooking competition shows sprinkled throughout the month. Most of this goodness gets under way Sunday Sep. 29th (in order to have enough weeks for their respective competitions). Their programing includes Halloween Wars, Halloween Baking championships, Haunted Gingerbread Showdown and as well as special Halloween themed episodes of their main stay shows, but that’s not what this calendar is about. A few new ones include Kids Baking Championship Tricks and Treats and Outrageous Pumpkins and Freakshow Cakes. If you are interested in those kind of things and I am.
- The Travel Channel is back with Ghostober – 31 days of travel related horror that have nothing to do with lost luggage. Most of these are campy and a little silly but there is something about it being a “real place” that makes it intriguing to me. Check it out … don’t … honestly I don’t care.
The intention of this calendar, much like the Christmas one is to get your family to pause and spend some time together making memories. Maybe carve a pumpkin while watching, create some fantastic Halloween Treats from your various Social Media sites, or work on your costume – don’t forget the props - and RELAX with your family, friends and loved ones (sometimes those overlap).
So sit back, scare yourself, and have a GREAT Halloween! It’s fall people enjoy it!

PS as always if you’d rather not get this awesomeness I understand just shoot me an e-mail and I’ll remove you from the list. Remember if you don’t get this one you also loose out on the Christmas one to come soon! 😊
