Thankfulness Challenge - Round 2

So Golden and I started this blog back in 2014 … which is crazy to me when I think about it. That's five years of my rambling that you all have sat through. Granted some of it was Golden's ramblings but for the most part you have had to deal with me. I do keep hoping that Golden will one day decide to grace us with her presence here cause some of the greatest entries on this blog were done by Golden. Seriously take a minute to read through her posts it will make you laugh, smile and think.

Find them here #Golden

Back in 2014 in an effort to get this blog up and off the ground I challenged myself to do a blog a day throughout the month of November. I called it a "Thankfulness Challenge" where I randomly talked about things that made me happy, thankful and frankly just were present in my day back then. Things like Golden, family, pepsi, music, being an aunt, sweet tea,  friendships, work, just a variety of topics. Looking back Golden did several of them too which kept them fun.

So I've decided to do it again. For the next 30 days I will post at least once a day something that makes me happy or thankful. Some will be long, some will be stupid short, some might be posted the next day but my goal is 30 posts for 30 days.

Wish me luck !

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

2,434+ times people have clicked on this blog to read something we wrote and for that we ask you what in the world is wrong with you? I mean we love you but surely you have something better to do like slam your hand in a car door, punch yourself in the face … fling yourself down a flight of stairs to see if your magical abilities come out? (PS if anyone tries that stairs for magical abilities thing A. that was your decision not ours, B. our lawyers instruct us to tell you that’s gonna hurt and C. if it works totally let us know cause we want magical abilities too!)

No … well ok then … welcome!  Anyway we hope that we have made you laugh, made you think, made you smile and made you say OH MY GAWD IS THAT JEM SELLING A HONDA?! Cause she did … did you guys see Jem selling a Honda?! They did a whole 80’s themed “Happy Honda Days” campaign featuring the toys of my youth… Jem, GI Joe, Gumby, Skeletor, Strawberry Shortcake, Stretch Armstrong … it was beautiful … it was marketing but still it made me want to drive my car into the side of a bridge so that I could then go out and buy a Honda. I didn’t but I totally thought about it.

Again, we had a goal for this blog …. Well we had several goals for this blog but the main goal was to give the creative side of our brain some exercise, offer a creative break to people in a similar situation as ours, and to meet new people who share similar interest to us.  We will continue to work towards these goals in 2015 and work to be more “on schedule” with our posts as it’s kind of hit and miss when we post.

Since starting this blog in August we have now posted 82 times, which actually sounds kind of sad but we’ve been busy. We promise to do better in 2015, you know what suck it we did the best we could and enjoyed it and tell the truth you enjoyed it too. We have set several “goals” for ourselves with the blog since starting it. We didn’t want to be the kind of people who set one up and then let it die. We wanted to continue to push forward.

From the “a post everyday for a week” at the beginning to the recent “Thankfulness Challenge” we have so far made every internal goal set for ourselves. It hasn’t always been easy. We want our post to be more than just hey look I saw a butterfly today and it was cool, now if that was a unicorn that would be epic! Which is why there is a bit of a delay sometimes in our posts, that and cause frankly sometimes we get all caught up in our daily lives and kind of forget it exists. No wait don’t go!!!!!!!

Maybe in 2015 we’ll have more fun like we did back at Dragon Con, or share more confessions, and share more struggles of a Medical Marvel, alert you to really cool things like movies and TV and nerdtastic awesomeness. So go out tonight, have a fantastic time, live it up and enjoy yourselves, but BE CAREFUL cause you don’t wanna miss the adventures we have planned for 2015. Tell us how you celebrated cause let's face it we were asleep by midnight, well I was Golden is out doing her thing.

Happy New Year from #SayWhatMG

Thankfulness Challenge - Day 1

As stated yesterday Golden and I are going to attempt a post a day during Thanksgiving, as we lead up to Thanksgiving. The goal… 27 days where we take a moment to focus on what we are thankful for. . . . here’s day 1.

Today I’m thankful for Golden. Well that’s not true I’m thankful for her every day, but it seemed weird to start this “exercise” off without mentioning her. This blog wouldn’t be a blog without Golden. It’s her brain child. She is the one who thought it up, she’s the one who pushed us to do it and she’s also the one who periodically forgets it exists, but I can’t say much cause sometimes I do too. I have been super impressed by how she has written her posts. She holds nothing back and is very good at bringing a point home, she says she’s not a writer, I call BS on that cause what I’ve read she definitely is.

I’m so glad that the fates led on us a similar path so that we’d cross, we’d meet, and we’d become friends. Golden is honestly the nicest, hardest working, sarcastic, funny, smartest, and generous person I know. She loves doing things for other people. When we went to DragonCon she got each person in our crew a bag of fun things with specific items picked out for them. The amount of effort and care she put into it was very thoughtful and not at all cheap. Need I also remind you of her random acts of kindness during DragonCon with her Geek Drops?!

Golden and I met in college, we were “bathroom buddies” formerly known as Suitemates. Thank goodness for the powers that be in the Auburn Housing Department for being smart enough to put us together but also smart enough to not make us roommates. Ha! I’ll never forget those late nights watching movies/tv in her dorm room (then her apartment, and lastly her trailer); going to movies; eating Chinese food; walking around books a million or Hastings praying she wouldn’t sit in the floor; and cherish each and every memory since. I have seen and done things I wouldn't have done without her, such as going to Vegas. Our trips are trips I cherish and miss we simply have to get back to doing those more. There's nothing like a "road trip" with your best friend laughing and joking and fighting and just having a blast!

If you follow this blog you know the last say 10 or so years health wise hasn’t been easy on Golden, it’s made me appreciate her more. I’m in awe of everything she deals with and the fact that she keeps moving forward despite everything about it telling her to just give up. She could have taken the easy road, gone on disability, use her illness as an excuse but she doesn’t she is LITERALLY the strongest person I know. I am blessed to call her my friend.

So on Day 1 I’m thankful for Golden, for being a great person, and even better friend and most importantly being my friend.

 Luv ya lady!

Happy October!!!!!

As I've said before Halloween is my favorite time of year. IT's the one time of year people tap into their creativity and create things. They carve pumpkins, create cute fall things for their front doors, costumes for their kids, and it usually ends up being a family fun filled holiday. Ok there are some haters out there trying to demonize Halloween but those people suck and shouldn't be in your inner circle. I personally find it hilarious to see the Devil and Jesus on either side of the isle at the local shops around town.

This year, since we have a blog now I'm posting my annual Halloween calendar here instead of sending out a jpeg via twitter!!! Yeah I know shameless plug of our blog....but yeah what of it. You are getting endless hours of fun here people besides this year has flown by, I'm pretty sure I just sent the 2012 one out ... didn't I?

The calendar is set up for 11X17 format but if you tell it to fit to page it should print on an 8.5 X 11 page if you are unable to print the other size. The Jpg is such a large file because if it's on a phone and you blow it up to see a specific day the text shouldn't break down on you, well it doesn't on my Windows Phone and at the end of the day it's really all about me. :D

As always …. a few guidelines:

·         I live in the central time zone, the times on this calendar reflect that, adjust accordingly.
·         Unless otherwise stated the times are PM
·         This calendar contains shows I want to see, so it includes a mixture of adult themed shows/movies and kid themed shows/movies. Some are classics and some are new, so PLEASE be mindful of what is on before you sit the kids down with popcorn to watch Michael Myers in Halloween.
o    Don’t call me cause your little one watched Halloween and can’t sleep because that shadow looks like a guy holding a knife or an ax … that’s your mess not mine. Seriously don’t call, or that shadow won’t just be a shadow anymore. (true story btw)

I am sad to report that I cannot find when ABC is showing It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I have begged everyone I can think of to let me know. This is the third year in a row and it’s depressing. Last year they showed it Halloween Night (which is just dumb) and ABC Family showed it randomly a few times, when they had an hour of “dead time” but I’m not finding it listed on either site at the moment. PLEASE watch out for it. You don’t want to miss it.

****UPDATE**** ABC finally announced that The Great Pumpkin will air on WED. Oct. 15th at 7:30 after Toy Story of Terror!!!!!! ****UPDATE****

That said keep your eyes and ears open as networks change their schedules and add movies depending on their air time throughout the month.

A few programs of note:

·         Halloween Wars is back on Food Network starting Oct. 5th this is a 4 part completion series from the makers of Cupcake Wars where teams of pumpkin carvers, cake decorators, and candy makers try to prove they are the best. Each episode has a different theme. Check it out every Sunday night!
·         Fox is showing the Simpson’s Treehouse of Horrors on Oct. 19th, so check that out then turn over to Food Network for Halloween Wars.
o    Also FXx is also planning a Treehouse of Horrors Marathon on Oct. 26th
·         AMC is once again doing their FEAR FEST starting on Oct. 14th through Oct. 31st for 18 days of over 70 films. Part of the Fear Fest includes Friday the 13th and Halloween movie marathons, Steven King marathons, and a Child Play movie marathon.
·         SYFY is also celebrating 31 days of Halloween starting Oct. 1st showing great horror movies and science fiction awesomeness which includes original movies and classics. It also includes original programming like Scare Factor and Ghost Hunters.
·         ABC Family is once again celebrating the 13 Nights of Halloween starting October 19th lots of fun animation and family friendly movies and Halloween themed shows. ABC is showing Toy Story of Terror, Beetlejuice, Adams Family, and so many others including the Goonies which isn’t really a Halloween movie but is awesome all year long!
·         The Disney Channel  is having Monstober from Oct. 2nd through the 31st showing movies and Halloween themed shows as well. Their site says their lineup will include Twitches, Halloweentown, as well as premiers of Wreck-it-Ralph (not Halloween), Casper, Pirate Fairy (which I’ve never heard of) and more. However they can’t be bothered to really post their line up so they don’t appear much on the calendar. L so check them out for family friendly fun.
·         The Travel Channel has some fun programs that highlight decorating and celebrating the holiday across the country with shows like Halloween Crazy (Halloween Crazier) and my favorite America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions.

This calendar does not focus on regular show “Halloween theme episodes” so no a Halloween themed Pretty Little Liars isn’t shown here. It’s more for movies and TV specials tho I admit Roseanne should be required viewing for TV writers tasked with writing a Halloween Themed episode. If you are home and one comes on definitely stop and watch it.

Also this calendar focuses on what’s on my TV, aka channels I get, I don’t get Chiller TV (Tho I would like to) so you’ll notice there’s not much from them on this calendar. I did note Scary Social but that was more for a friend of mine. Other channels with a good suspense/horror lineup include Encore Suspense, Sundance,

If you’d like to see the line ups for those channels here’s a good site to check out:

This list is created by Savage Shawn and he's just fantastic (truth is I just found him via this page but this list is pretty epic and took a lot of time to create!) Hit him up on twitter at

The intention of this calendar, much like the Christmas one is to get your family to pause and spend some time together making memories. Maybe carve a pumpkin while watching, or create some fantastic Halloween Treats from your various Social Media sites and RELAX with your family. I loved watching the Garfield Halloween special as a kid, and am sad that it no longer comes on. That’s the other reason for this calendar, if we stop watching they will stop showing. So just because you have the Great Pumpkin on a shelf, take the time to watch it with your family when it FINALLY airs on ABC.

So here it is in all its glory the 2014 Halloween TV Calendar ....

so sit back, scare yourself, and have a GREAT Halloween! It’s fall people enjoy it!
